Same as non-diabetic: In general, diabetes does not increase the risk of anemia in pregnancy. All pregnant women experience some drop in hemoglobin during pregnancy because blood volume goes up more than red cell volume - this is called the physiologic anemia of pregnancy. Up to 30% of women will experience a larger drop in hemoglobin (below 10) which ir real anemia.
