Sure can: Any fumes in excess of the needed oxygen content you are required to take into your lungs can cause dizziness and if severe enough or prolonged enough can cause a person to pass out. This is simply based upon the brain not receiving enough oxygenated blood to maintain function. Need to have good ventilation in closed spaces when burning kerosene or simply leave the area till you recover.
