Plantar fascitiis: Is a good bet thought there are certainly other possibilities. Good arches in yourshoes, stretching, antiinflammatories, icing the heel are a good start. See a local podiatrist if pain persists.

Heel spur syndrome.: Sounds like heel spur syndrome or plantar fasciitis. Both are usually due to abnormal foot function. Wear more supportive shoes and take antii-nlammatory medication (if you can) for a solid week. I reccomend either 2 aleve (naproxen) twice a day after eating, or Ibuprofen 800mg twice a day. If the pain doesn't subside or improve, see your local podiatrist.
