Avoid too much of anything: Yes, it is my understanding that Dopamine or an opioid may be released with the fulfillment of an urge to buy; but there may be many other factors involved in compulsive buying. I think too much of anything can become a mental health concern. Have known wellbutrin (bupropion) ; cbt to sometimes help when shopping has become compulsive or an addiction. Compulsive shopping: In people who use shopping compulsively, buying things can bring a Dopamine rush. This is the case when people who use other substances or behaviors compulsively, do their habit. In people who shop normally, this "dopamine rush" does not happen. They can simply buy what they need for their lives rather than for other reasons. http://tinyurl.com/3269e8.
