Kidney: Kidney issues is the first thing that comes to mond. Also food allergies might cause some am face swelling. Upper back pain could be muscles that are sore or being out of alignment. It would be wise to talk this over with her pediatrician. May be nothing but that is worth finding out.

Suggests she sees a: Pcp to start investigations on her, as it sounds like a kidney lesion can cause bot the back pains and swelling. I can not think of any other cause, except having back pain with some drug reaction causing swelling. Without a proper hx, examination/tests, it'll be difficult for anyone of us providing a decent answers. Good luck.
