Well: If you don't treat the fever and its a virus the fever goes up and down on its own. Usually if it is a bacterial infection the fever hoed up and stays up. Viruses can last a week or mor depending on what it is. Right now there are some pretty nasty ones with high fevers going around, most with coughs
