Yes but...: Yes, they are safe. Just make sure you're following the manufacturer's recommendations regarding what water can be filtered (swamp water can only be cleaned so much) and that you're replacing the filter or the bottle on schedule. Using a bottle long after the expiration does away with the safety features.
