During breakout: Apply it to your acne blemishes and if you feel a bump coming up. If it irritates your skin speak with your doctor about changing to a better product.

Hard to comment: Without more information it is hard to comment. Acne is often considered a teen issue, but some retain the problem well into their 30's and beyond. Using this or other products may be necessary until you age out of the problem. As for how long you leave it on the skin, that varies with each individual & is usually found through trial/error.
