Read on !: Diabetes occurs when you do not make enough Insulin (type 1 ) or your demands for Insulin is higher than the amount of Insulin (type 2 ) lack of Insulin which causes the sugar to enter cells causes high blood sugar. Under normal circumstances blood sugar should not go higher than 180 (the renal threshold ) hyperglycemia beyond this figure indicates absolute or relative lack of insulin.

Symptom v. Diagnosis: Hyperglycemia is a symptom (high blood sugar) and diabetes is a diagnosis which is determined after blood work and evaluation.
