Physical therapy: Physical therapy is the most important treatment for these problems. It has been shown to slow or stop progression of the problem. Other treatments include arthritis medications, wedge insoles, taping of the knee, injections, and surgery. Regardless of what other treatments are used physical therapy should be part of the treatment.

Both can ; should be: Treated conservatively, initially, with pain meds, crutches/walker for partial wb, ice/heat pads ; pt. If getting worse/no relief/developing more symptoms, eg, knee giving way under with recurrent falls, or locking episodes, then a scope surgery with removal/repair may be needed. Similarly the sciatica maybe treated surgically by removing the offending disc (s) or releasing nerve. Good luck.
