Visiting nursing hom: Nursing home patients usually have medicla problems that make them more prone ot infections and some of these are contagious. I think it also depends on the nurisng home as to the santaion pracices. If you are concerned you should follow good hand hygiene and do not eat anything until you are able to wash your hands after the visit. Also you should wash all your clothes after wards.

Infection control: Antibiotic resistant bacteria are commonly present in body fluids such as urine, feces and phlegm. Be careful and wash hands with soap and water. Alcohol based hand sanitizers are not adequate protection. Norovirus outbreaks do occur but are infrequent.
