That is a tough one: Chiari malformation can cause headaches especially when the neck is in extension. Thus avoiding extension in bed may provide some assistance. Sometimes drugs that can lower CSF pressure (ie. Topamax, (topiramate) diamox, zonegran) can help. Of course when all else fails a c1 decompression can provide a potentially longer term solution.
