Can my baby's reflux and bad diaper rash be related?

Yes: Both reflect a digestive disturbance. Many babies lack proper colonization of the colon via birth and giving probiotics can make a big difference to diaper rashes. Maybe not to reflux. Typical diaper rash responds to typical creams like desitin, (zinc oxide diaper cream) zinc oxide, triple paste, a&d ointment etc. I have found through the years that if not better in three days think yeast and try an anti-fungal cream. More.

...more: Babies with reflux often need medication. I have had good results with chinese medicine and reflux in babies. Look for a practitioner in your area. Y9u may find through chinese medicine that the two problems are resolved with one herbal treatment.

What can someone use for a baby's bad diaper rash?

Frequent changes: Diaper rashes can be caused by chemical irritation by stool contents. Frequent changes of the diaper when rashes appear and allowing the area to air breathe by keeping the diaper off after a change, can be helpful. Thick diaper creams such as zinc oxide can be helpful also. Sometimes yeast infections can be part of bad rashes. If you have tried all of the above, you may need to see your doctor

How can I treat my baby's diaper rash? ?

Dryness, covering: It depends on what is causing the rash... In general, if it is just general diaper rash, then it comes from constant wetness and irritation. Essentially, the diaper rash comes from wearing a diaper. So, the best treatment is to take it off as often as possible to air the area out. And with each change, dry completely, then cover with something protective - my favorite? Vasoline.

What should I use for my baby that has recurrent diaper rash?

Diaper rash: The best trick to prevent a diaper rash is to change the diaper quickly whenever your baby dirties or pees. Exposing the diaper area to the air several times a day will also help. Do not wash bottoms with soap and water everytime he soils the diaper; wipes are good enough. Then apply an ointment - vaseline, vit. A&d, aquaphor at each change.
