Personal contact: Research is incomplete, but so far transmission to humans from animals (mostly birds) has been uncommon (happily) and mostly by personal contact. Airborne transmission does not seem important at this time, but there is fear this could change if the virus mutates. If so, and if highly transmissible (i.e. infection by only a few virus particles), the world could see major epidemics. Fingers crossed!
