A member asked:

A co-worker has been diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. what should i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: What was the organism causing the meningitis. The most dangerous is neisseria meningitidis and even with this, to warrant use of prophylactic antibiotics you would have to been extremely close or intimate with the co-worker to have been infected. Usually the health department of your community or the doctors caring for the patient will notify anybody at risk.
