A member asked:

I was wondering what are the major heart diseases of congenital origin in utero?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Confusing question: In utero, the fetus does not suffer heart disease. The fetal heart may become malformed, but this is a malformation not a disease.A fetus may be infected by any germ that enters the mom's blood, like rubella ; syphilis and those could potentially infect the heart but when involved these often cause abortion.
