A member asked:

I was wondering what are the statistics of people getting keratitis due to contact lens wear?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Contact lens wear: Only rarely causes keratitis when patients use their lenses appropriately (i.e. Removing them nightly, cleaning and disposing of them on a regular basis). The risk goes up with patients who sleep with their lenses and with patients who use a pair of lenses for longer than they are supposed to be used for.
