Mucus plug remains: Throghout pregnancy mucus plug blocks the opening of the cervix to prevent bacteria from entering the uterus before labour mucus plug is expelled allowing baby to pass through the cervix during the labor.

Mucous: Certain membranes in your body form mucous. Your cervix is one of them. Some lose it all at once. Some bit by bit. Either way is normal.
