GGT: An elevated GGT indicates liver problems and possible obstruction in the hepatic ducts, you need to have it looked at, adding insult to injury with drinking alcohol is not recommended.

Why is it up?: If your GGT is elevated, you need to find out why. If this is the only liver enzyme that is out of the reference range, and you rarely drink, chances are that you're one of those folks who just runs a high GGT (it's genetic), your liver is fine, and you can drink sensibly. Double-check with your personal physician.
