Is pramipexole helpful for bipolar people?

Yes, with caution: Pramipexole has shown benefit in research trials in treating depression symptoms in bipolar disorder. However, it can also "flip" depressed patients to mania. Patients who try it should be on a good anti-manic regime before adding pramipexole.

Pramipexole: has been used as augmentation for bipolar depression. More typical meds fall into classes of mood stabilizers (Lithium/ anticonvulsants like valproic acid, divalproex or lamotrigine) & atypical antipsychotics (Quetiapine, aripiprazole, olanzapine or risperidone).
