?gingivitis: Sounds like you have some oral infection starting. With your throat aching, it may be best to see a dr. To check you out for infectious causes. If it remains purely in your teeth and gums, then a dentist would be better. Doubt the menstrual cycle has anything to do with it. Good luck.

Hygiene...: Braces cause a lot of gum problems when there is no appropriate care. Your brushing and flossing must be perfect. Any food remain will cause acidity and bacterial activity that will damage your gums. Some mouth rinse will help, but is not the solution. If you have a sore throat and fever you have to take antibiotics prescribed.
