A member asked:

I never had headaches during my period but now i'm on mine and it's been here two days leading up to my period.is this hormonal headaches?prevention?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: This is most definitely likely a hormonal headache, due to decrease in estrogen that occurs at that point in cycle. Try ibuprofen, aspirin, caffeine, antihistamine. Can also see your doctor if occurs regularly and discuss use of tripans (imitrex (sumatriptan) type drugs). In addition some women benefit from taking continuous birth control for 3 months and then having a period 4 x per year. Talk dr options.
