Watchful waiting: The surgical incision must heal which will take time. At first , conservative therapy including warm packs and keeping it clean will be best. Steroid injections could be considered in 2 months depending on the healing. Occasionally, surgical excision may be required to flatten the scar and remove residual cyst or scar tissue.

Surgical excision: Abscesses normally get drained first and in your case, the sebaceous cyst will need to be excised as well in a few weeks. Swelling and uneveness is common at this stage. Nature needs time to heal the site. Besides the antibiotics, using anti-inflammatory medication and keeping the area clean will also help.
