A member asked:

What does cachectic really mean? is someone dying?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Wasting: During the later stages of cancer and aids, and some other grave diseases, cachexia means one is burning muscle in preference to fat, and losing much body tissue. As my mother's mother was dying of cancer, she did so gracefully and her friends described her as looking "ethereal." cherish each moment you still have with your loved one.
