Birth: When the baby is born, the nurse or doctor clears the mouth and nose of mucous and blood so he can breathe clearly. Measurements are taken and the apgar score is checked to see if he is healthy. Vitamin k is given by injection and medication is put in the eyes to protect them from infection. A Hepatitis B Vaccine is recommended. Your baby is examined several times during your hospital stay.
