Hoarseness: The larynx has two components, extrinsic and intrinsic. When latter is involved the cords contain the lesion and hoarseness is the major symptom. Extrinsic lesions of the box are more complex since invasion into cartilage can minimize response to RT chemo and require partial if not total laryngectomy. Smoking is a major factor. If lesion superficial it can be cured to high extent with RT/chemo
