Can you tell me what can cause the heart to "skip a beat" out of nowhere?

Skipped beats: It could be from premature atrial or ventricular contraction. In young individuals most likely from electrolyte abnormalities, hypoxia or catecholamine imbalance. Most common in heart failure patients or COPD patients.
