6 months: If prophylactic therapy for migraine, such as drugs or Botox are very effective and you get very few headaches try stopping the treatment after 6 months. However, if you still get a few migraines each month, it is not likely you will be able to stop the prophylactic treatment. Instead or in addition to drugs try regular exercise, biofeedback, magnesium, coq10, riboflavin, feverfew, omega-3, botox.
