The short story...: Xrays are images obtained by passing a beam through a detector to simply generate and image of which xrays did or didn't hit the detector. Ct uses the same technology but reconstructs multiple imaging points using a computational algorthim to make a much more detailed picture in the form of "slices" mri uses magnetic fields and radio waves to generate and image using computers to create images.
