PRE-AURICULAR PITS:: Are small indentations located anterior to helix and superior to tragus of ear (bilateral: 25-50%), represent the most common fusion abnormality of auricular hillocks. Seen in 1% white, 5% black, 10% asian children, with increased frequency in some families. Associated congenital anomalies occur in approx. 1/3rd. Children with preauricular pits or tags are at 5 times the risk of general poulation.
