Canine teeth: Canine teeth are usually more pointed that the adjacent incisors or premolars. They are used for tearing the food. Just as people have different shaped facial profiles (square, ovoid, etc.) so too there is a range of how pointed canine teeth may be. You can probably have them slightly re-contoured if you want them less pointy. Discuss this with your dentist.

Bite,non/uneven wear: Agree with dr. Sandler. Also, usually by age 40, you would have worn down the sharp points into flatter surfaces. Perhaps they do not contact when you move your jaw side to side tracking across the teeth. You may have 'anterior open bite'. Might be wearing unevenly. See your dentist for evaluation.
