A member asked:

Can staphylococcal infection be associated with heart failure?

Rarely, indirectly: Staph does not generally cause heart failure directly; however, through endocarditis, or valve infection, it can lead to eventual heart failure, which can be permanent depending on degree of damage and timing of treatment. Shock during an overwhelming infection can also cause heart failure-like symptoms, though the general illness is profound and not likely to be confused with chf.
