Age and female sex: Also some drugs like antihistamnes and birth control pills. Cold, dry air. Some disease like rheumatoid, sjogrens, lupus etc.

Dry eye causes: Dry eye has many causes. Some of the most common causes are age, autoimmune, blepharitis, medication side effects, diabetes, lid closure issues, neurologic disease, and many more. Try artificial tears and if no improvement, go see an eye doctor.
