Healthy lifestyle...: It is imperative to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle--eating a healthy diet, exercising (aerobic for 30-45 minutes and light muscle strengthening) at least 4 times per week, drinking adequate fluids, not smoking, reduce stress, sleep well. Effient should be taken for at least a year, which is time that clot may form in stent. But must stop the underlying coronary disease from progressing.

Guidelines: Our current guidelines recommend dual anti-platelet therapy, which is Aspirin + an agent like Effient or plavix, (clopidogrel) for 1 year. At times this is extended based on complexity of stunting, etc. Your doc will assess risk/benefit to determine recommended duration. If the rec was to stop it, the risk of continuing is likely greater than the risk of stopping.
