On ; Off: It can be normal to have some on and off bleeding after vaginal birth or cesarean, where it stops for a few days... Having said that, some women experience severe post partum hemorrhage even 3 weeks after birth. If you're soaking a pad in an hour or less, you should go to the er to be evaluated. Better to be safe than sorry... And it's impossible to quantify blood loss over the internet.
