I am traveling internationally. how common is salmonella in other countries?

Depends upon country: Salmonella causes typhoid fever and paratyphoid fever . It is usually spread by contamination of food or water. The most common place for travelers to get it is southern asia. Travelers staying with families or friends are more likely to become ill with salmonella. Typhoid, but not paratyphoid can be prevented with vaccination. Careful food/water choices and hand washing are essential.
