Many causes.: There are many causes. Atherosclerosis is one. Vascultis can do it also, which has many forms, like polyarteritis nodosa. Hematologic diseases, such as thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura can cause it, as can drugs, like cocaine. Embolism, and vasoconstriction are other major causes.
