Anxiety ; Ativan (lorazepam): Anxiety can cause changes in breathing -- such as more rapid, shallow breathing and the feeling that one cannot get enough oxygen. Ativan (lorazepam) is an anxiety-reducing medicine. However, allergies may also cause changes in breathing -- especially if your nose is stopped up, etc. Lithium is not likely to cause these changes.
