Kidney stone: Yes, if he is still in a lot of pain he should return to the hospital. Hopefully they can do a procedure to felieve him of his stone and pain as well.

Likely it will pass: Kidney stone attack can be very painful, more so than labor pain. Often, if the stone is 8mm or less, it will pass. Larger stone is not likely and may need surgical removal. If he was sent home, i assume it is small and will likely pass, but may take couple of days. So, plenty of fluids, rest, and use the pain med to ease the misery. He may need higher dose of pain med. Consult doc. Good luck.
