Why ??: it is called number1 because it is physically the longest with the most DNA. i've been practicing Clinical Genetics for over 35 years and nobody ever asked me this one. #2 is 2nd longest. Our20,000 or more genes are located on exactly the same spot on the chromosomes for all humans. please be more specific. What matters is whether a particular gene functions properly, not where it is located
