A member asked:

What is the survival rate of cardiac arrest?

2 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Zero: No one survives cardiac arrest unless they're successfully resuscitated. Prognosis then depends on the cause of the arrest, whether it's reversible, how long there was no spontaneous circulation, the underlying condition of the heart, whether there was preexisting cerebrovascular disease, presence of preexisting kidney disease, what the general health was and other factors.

Low: Both in the hospital and away the survival rate is often less than 50% .Hospital rates are lower related to the severity of disease seen there.
