A member asked:

Can you tell me if xyy syndrome is sex-linked or autosomal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Neither: It is a karyotype disorder. The x and y chromosomes are sex chromosomes, but the disorders of chromosomes themselves (aneupolidies, translocations, etc.) are not the classic mendelian disorders that we discuss with respect to "sex-linked" and "autosomal.".
