Can you provide some advice for someone who's had disc replacement?

Depends on location: The most common location for a disc replacement is in the neck or cervical spine. This is done via a procedure called an anterior cervical disc excision and fusion. This is often done in young people for a herniated disc with "pinched" nerve. There may be some initial stiffness or decrease in the range of motion. However, this is minimal and most patients do not notice it.

Yin Yoga for ROM: Pursue stretching and spinal strengthening just like we all should for our original discs. Yin Yoga is especially good for prevention of further issues. If you are still having pain after artificial disc replacement, please seek an opinion so see if you have pain coming from the facet joints (which are not replaced) or from other levels of your spine.
