Yes: Underactive thyroid, depression, low vit B12 and side effects from medications can mimic a dementia. Normal pressure hydrochephalus (increased fluid in the ventricles) can also present as a dementia. Certain infections can cause a dementia picture as well a physician should always looks at medications and do blood work when evaluating for memory loss. Additionally, a brain image is usually done.
