Difference.....: A heart attack is when the heart muscle is not getting the blood supply it needs. The part of the heart not receiving enough blood is at risk to die. Cardiac arrest is when the heart stops beating entirely. One of the many causes of cardiac arrest is a heart attack or myocardial infarction (mi). Both are life-threatening and require an immediate 911 call.

Big Difference : A "heart attack" is damage to the heart as a result of the lack of blood flow to the heart. Cardiac arrest means that the heart muscle has stopped beating. Many times, a heart attack can lead to cardiac arrest. But, they are not the same. And there are other causes for cardiac arrest besides heart attacks.

See below: Heart attack only means that there is area of the heart deprived of blood flow and the muscles supplied by the involved blood vessel die. Cardiac arrest means the heart stops beating the person has a sudden death and has to be resuscitated.
