Can you tell me about a staph infection in the lower spine?

This a very braoad : Question. Is this a disc space infection that has occurred with no surgery of the spine or is this post op wound infection? There are so many potential variables like involve nerve issues , is the patient diabetic, a smoker etc. In any case, all spine infections must be considered serious ; dealt with immediately with some requiring surgery but all requiring usually weeks of antibiotics ; care.
