A member asked:

My coccyx (tailbone) has been hurting for couple of years, what's wrong with it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Generally the cause: Is a fracture of the coccyx, from a fall or an accident, which usually resolves with time, but might take 3-4 years. Some pts require surgery to take the broken part of the bone out, if the pain continues. Xrays/ct scans might be needed to DX the problem, to see if there any other cause of the pain. See your pcp and then an ortho referral would be needed as well. Good luck and happy holidays.
