Many possibilities: Recurrent nose bleeds can be caused by many things, ranging from too dry air, no friable veins in the nose, to problems in clotting (low platelets, for examples). If this occurs often, i would try to have him evaluated. A good physical exam can look at his nasal mucosa, and if warranted, some simple blood work can also be performed.
