Test still works: Having pelvic inflammatory disease or inflammation in the pelvic area will not make an otherwise positive pregnancy test appear as negative. So, if a pregnancy test, done correctly, one week after missing a period, or 3 weeks after having sex, is negative, then the woman is not pregnant at that time. Of course, she might get pregnant with her next ovulation if she has sex again.
