Mouth eruption: Your symptoms seem viral in nature, and the patches may be a specific type. Upper respiratory illnesses such as sinus infection can present similarly with nasal stuffiness and diminished taste. Bacterial infection such as strep throat is not usually a palatal disease. However, mononucleosis is always a concern for a range of symptoms and can be tested for. An exam is in order if you don't improve.
